Read contact activity and email history

Read the rows and filters on the Activity tab and the Email history squares, and learn how opens and clicks are counted.

The Activity tab shows what a contact has done in MailGraf. Email history on the Insights tab sums up every email sent to them at a glance.

Read the activity rows

Each email campaign takes one row. Under the campaign name, the row lists what the contact did with that email, in order: Sent, Opened, Clicked, Bounced. If a scanner clicked, you also see a Security scan step with the number of clicks that were not counted.

Click a row to open its detail box. It shows the Subject, Sending domain, Device, Clicked link and, where there is one, the Bounce reason. Click Open the campaign report for the full report.

An email sent by an automation carries a label with the flow's name. Click the label and the automation report opens on that email.

The tab shows the first 12 rows. Click Load more to see the rest. You can switch the order between Newest and Oldest.

Filter the activity

The filters at the top split the rows by type: All, Email, Permission, Lists, Segments and Account changes. Web also appears when website tracking is installed, and Orders when your account has order data.

All groups things that happened together into one row. If a contact was added to three lists within 15 minutes, the row reads Added to 3 lists. The list names appear under the row. On Lists and Segments, every event has its own row.

Read the email history

In the Email history card on Insights, every send is a square. The squares run from oldest to newest. Choose the range: Last 30 days, Last 90 days, Last 12 months or All time.

SquareWhat it means
Not openedThe email was sent and the contact did not open it.
OpenedThe contact opened the email.
ClickedThe contact clicked a link in the email.
BouncedThe email did not reach the contact.
Scanner onlyOnly a security scanner clicked. The contact did nothing.

Hover over a square to see the campaign name, the date and the contact's response. Click the square to open that campaign's report. The card shows the newest 300 sends. Older sends are on the Activity tab.

How opens and clicks are counted

An open is recorded when the images in an email load. A contact who clicks a link without loading images also counts as having opened that email. The detail of such an open reads Counted from click.

Security scans

Some companies use security software that opens the links in an email before the contact sees it. MailGraf shows these clicks separately as a Security scan step. It keeps them out of click counts, the engagement stars and your reports.

Frequently asked questions

The contact clicked but does not show an open. How can that be?

An open is recorded when the images in the email load. A contact who clicks a link without loading images counts as having opened that email. The row detail shows Counted from click.

Why are security scan clicks not counted?

These clicks come from security software on the recipient's side, not from the contact. MailGraf does not hide them. It shows them separately and keeps them out of the stars, the statistics and your reports.

Why is there no Delivered row?

Each campaign takes one row. The row shows the send and the contact's response together, so delivery is not written as a row of its own.
