Get to know the email editor

Learn where everything is in the editor: blocks and settings on the left, your email in the middle, preview and test at the top.

Updated 8 Oct 2026Open Campaigns in app

The email editor has three areas: blocks and settings on the left, your email in the middle, and the preview and test buttons at the top. To open the editor, click Edit design on the campaign's Design step.

The five icons on the left

Five icons sit at the far left of the screen. Click one and the panel next to it shows that icon's content.

  • Content: the blocks you add to the email. The Basics group has Heading, Text, Image, Button, Divider and Spacer. The More group has Social, Menu, Video, Hero, HTML and Code. The Dynamic group has Coupon, QR code and Countdown.
  • Rows: empty rows with one, two, three or four columns.
  • Saved blocks: the blocks and rows you saved earlier.
  • Layers: an ordered list of every row and block in the email.
  • Global settings: settings that apply to the whole email: Layout, Headings, Body text, Links, Buttons and Mobile.

Add and edit a block

  1. Drag the block onto the email

In the Content panel, hold a block and drag it over the email. A blue line with the words Drop here shows where the block will land. Release the mouse at that point.
  2. Click the block to open its settings

The left panel switches to that block's settings. Most blocks have two tabs: Content and Style. Press Esc to return to the block list.
  3. Double-click to change the text

Double-click a Heading or Text block and type. To finish, press Esc or click outside the block.
  4. Move, duplicate or delete the block

A toolbar appears above the selected block. Its buttons, in order, are Drag to move, Move up, Move down, Duplicate, Add to saved blocks and Delete.
  5. Open the row's settings

Move the mouse over the row and click the Row label that appears on its left. The panel shows Columns, Background, Mobile and Show to.

The top bar

  • Desktop, Mobile, Both: show the email as it looks on that device. Both puts desktop and mobile side by side.
  • Undo and Redo: take back the last change or apply it again.
  • Preview: shows the email as the recipient will see it. Click Back to editing to return to the editor.
  • Send test: sends the email to the address you enter.
  • Save as template: keeps the design so you can use it in other campaigns.
  • Done: closes the editor and takes you back to the campaign.

The editor has no Save button. MailGraf saves every change on its own; when a save finishes, the top bar says Saved.

The footer cannot be deleted

The last row of the email is a locked footer. It carries your company address and the unsubscribe link; both are a legal requirement in every email. You can change its colour and text size. To change the address, click Edit company information in the panel.

Frequently asked questions

How do I save my changes?

You do not need to. MailGraf saves every change on its own; once the top bar says Saved, you can close the editor.

Where do a block's settings open?

On the left. Click a block in the email and the left panel shows that block's settings. Press Esc to return to the block list.

Can I bring back a block I deleted by mistake?

Yes. Click Undo in the top bar, or press ⌘Z on a Mac or Ctrl+Z on Windows.
