Connect your AI assistant to MailGraf

MCP connects your AI assistant to your MailGraf account. Through conversation, you can create email campaigns, review their results and organise your lists.

Before you start

• Your MailGraf plan includes API access.
• You are an owner or admin of the account.
• Your assistant supports remote MCP connections.

Connect your assistant

The connection address is https://api.mailgraf.com/mcp. You can also copy it in MailGraf: open Settings > Developers > MCP and click Copy address.

Claude

1. Open Connectors

   In Claude, open Customize > Connectors.

2. Add a custom connector

   Click + next to Connectors and choose Add custom connector.

3. Enter the name and address

   Enter MailGraf as the name and the MCP address as the URL. Leave the advanced settings empty and click Add.

4. Approve the connection

   Click Connect. On the MailGraf screen that opens, check the account and permissions, then click Authorize.

5. Turn on MailGraf in a chat

   Click + at the bottom left of the chat box and turn on MailGraf.

Claude's free plan allows one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise plans, an organisation owner adds the connector first, and you only click Connect.

ChatGPT

1. Turn on developer mode

   In ChatGPT, open Settings > Security and login and turn on Developer mode.

2. Create an app

   Open Plugins and click +. Some accounts show this screen as Apps.

3. Enter the name and address

   Enter MailGraf as the name and the MCP address as the server URL. Choose OAuth for authentication and create the app.

4. Approve the connection

   On the MailGraf screen that opens, check the account and permissions, then click Authorize.

5. Select MailGraf in a chat

   In the chat box, open the + menu, choose Developer mode and tick MailGraf.

This works in ChatGPT on the web, on Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu plans. In Business and Enterprise workspaces, an admin has to allow developer mode first.

Codex

Run these two commands in your terminal:

codex mcp login mailgraf

Your browser opens the MailGraf screen. Click Authorize. Type /mcp in Codex and MailGraf appears in the list. In the IDE extension, add the same address under MCP servers in the settings menu, with the Streamable HTTP type.

Other assistants

In Gemini, Cursor and other tools that support MCP, add the address as a remote MCP server or custom connector. Start the connection and click Authorize on the MailGraf screen. If your tool can't sign in this way, you can use an API key as the Bearer token. An API key has full access, so give it only to a tool you trust.

Once connected, return to the chat and try “Show my MailGraf lists and their contact counts”.

Create a campaign through conversation

For example, ask:

Let's prepare a new product announcement for my Newsletter list. Show my saved templates, then help me adapt the copy once I choose one. Send me a test email first.

The assistant creates a campaign draft from your chosen template. You can set the sender, subject, audience and content in the chat. Ask it to “Shorten the heading” or “Replace the product link with this address” to edit the draft.

After checking the test email, ask for the sending summary. The assistant shows the recipient count, sender, subject and any outstanding checks. Sending or scheduling requires the connection's sending permission and your approval of the summary. List checks and account reviews still apply. If the list bounce test shows a warning, open the campaign in MailGraf to accept the risk; the assistant can't do this step. Assistant permissions and approvals explains how approval works.

Try other requests

• Add contacts: “Add [email protected] to my Newsletter list; I already have permission to email them.” With write permission, the assistant adds the contact or updates their existing record. Each request can add up to 1,000 contacts; this is not your account’s total contact limit. For larger lists, use the import screen in MailGraf.
• Compare results: “Compare my last three campaigns by open and click rate.” See which campaign attracted more interest.
• Build an audience: “How many contacts clicked my emails in the last 30 days? Save them as a segment.” Select that group in a future campaign.
• Check a list before sending: “Run a bounce test on my Newsletter list and explain the result.” After the free sample test, if full cleaning is needed, the assistant asks for your approval before using verification credits.
• Prepare a welcome series: “Use a ready-made template to create a welcome series for new contacts joining my Newsletter list.” Prepare the emails together, then review and approve the summary before activating the flow.

Disconnect your assistant

Open Settings > Developers > MCP, find your assistant and click Disconnect. That connection can no longer access your account.
