Start from a ready segment
Pick a prepared rule from a card, see how many contacts it finds before you build anything, and open it in one click.
Ready segments are the rules people build most often, laid out as cards. Each card shows the rule itself and how many contacts it finds right now, so you see the result before you build anything.
Pick a card
Open the Ready segments tab on the Segments page
The cards are grouped by what you want to do. Click a section name at the top to narrow the view, or type in Search ready segments.Read the card
The box under the title is the rule. The number below it is how many contacts match that rule.Change the value if you need to
On some cards you can click the stars, the number of days or the automation. Choose a new value and the count is worked out again.Click Use
The segment builder opens with the card's name and rule. You can change both. Click Save when you are done.
The same cards appear under an empty segment builder.
The sections
| Section | Who it finds |

| Send to | Active contacts, contacts with high stars and contacts who are hot right now. |
| Follow up | Contacts who clicked a link, are in an automation or finished one. |
| Win back | Cooling contacts, cold contacts who engaged before and customers who have not ordered for a while. |
| Clean up | Cold contacts who never engaged, security scanner clicks and bounced addresses. |
| New contacts | Recently added contacts, those with fewer than 3 emails so far and new form sign-ups. |
| Store | Contacts who ordered recently, never ordered or have ordered at all. |
Click Data and consent at the bottom of the page to open the cards for consent type, missing details and inbox provider.
When a card shows text instead of a number
- Fills after your first email campaign: stars and temperature come from the emails you send. You can still use the card.
- Connect a store: the card relies on order data. It stays locked until order data reaches your account.
When the counts update
Cards count your active contacts. Unsubscribed and Bounced count contacts with that status. Counts are kept for up to 60 minutes. Click the Recalculate counts icon to update them now.
Frequently asked questions
Does clicking Use save the segment straight away?
No. The builder opens with the card's name and rule, and you can change both. The segment is created when you click Save.
Why does a card say Fills after your first email campaign?
Stars and temperature come from how contacts respond to the emails you send. Until you send one there is nothing to count. You can still use the card. The segment fills on its own as contacts receive at least 3 emails.
What is the difference between the Cooling and Cold cards?
Cooling contacts ignored their last 3 emails but responded to one of the last 10. Cold contacts responded to none of the last 10. A contact appears on only one of these cards.
