Send a webhook from an automation

When a contact reaches a step in your flow, send their details to your CRM or to a tool such as Make, Zapier or n8n.

The Send webhook step sends a contact's details to an address you choose when they reach that point in the flow. The address can be your CRM or a tool such as Make, Zapier or n8n. You find the step in the left panel, in the Integrations group.

Add the step

  1. Click the Send webhook step

The step is added below the selected card. To add it somewhere else, use the + button between two cards. Click the new card to open its settings.
  2. Choose an endpoint

In the right panel, pick an address from the Endpoint list. If it is not there, click New endpoint, enter a name and the address, then click Add endpoint.
  3. Choose the body

Leave Standard (MailGraf JSON) selected. It sends the contact's email address, name, tags and the automation's details.
  4. Click Send test

A request goes out with a sample contact. If the result says Delivered, the address works.

The second email in your welcome flow has a link to your pricing page. You want everyone who clicks it to appear in a Google Sheets sheet your sales team checks.

  1. In Make, create a new scenario. Add the Webhooks > Custom webhook module and copy the address it gives you. Connect a Google Sheets > Add a Row module after it.
  2. In MailGraf, add a Condition step below the second email. Choose Clicked a link in the email? and pick the pricing link under Which link.
  3. On the Yes path, add the Send webhook step and save the address from Make as a New endpoint.
  4. In Make, click Run once, then click Send test in MailGraf. Make receives the sample request. Map contact.email and contact.first_name to the columns of your sheet.

Once the flow is live, everyone who clicks the pricing link is added to the sheet as a new row.

You manage your endpoints under Settings > Webhooks.

Frequently asked questions

Does the flow stop if the other system does not answer?

No. The contact moves on without waiting for the answer. If the endpoint does not answer with 2xx, MailGraf tries 5 times within about 2.5 hours.

Which plan do I need?

You need the Pro plan to put a flow with a Send webhook step live. You can also use it during your trial.

How many requests go out per day?

Up to 10,000 requests a day per account. Once the limit is reached, the step is skipped and the flow continues with the next step.
