Use the list page

See how a list grows and engages, then work with its contacts, imports and validations from the tabs below.

Updated 14 Oct 2026Open Lists in app

The list page shows how a list is growing, whether its contacts open your emails and how each contact got onto the list. Open a list from Contacts > Lists. Two cards sit at the top, with the Contacts, Imports and Validations tabs underneath.

Contact count over time

This card sums up the selected period in four numbers: Start of period, Added, Removed and Today. Choose the period in the top right of the card: Last 30 days, Last 3 months or Year to date. Your choice updates the charts on both cards.

Say a list had 200 contacts at the start of the period, gained 30 and lost 5. The card shows 200, +30, 5 and 225.

The chart plots the contact count at the end of each day. Contacts removed from the list show as a drop in the line. If the list was created during the period, the first number becomes At creation and the chart starts on that day.

List engagement trend

This card splits the list's contacts whose status is active into three groups: Opened at least once, Never opened and Not emailed yet. The large percentage tells you how many of the contacts who have received an email opened at least one.

For example, 180 of these 225 contacts have received an email, and 135 of them opened at least once. The percentage is 75%. The 45 contacts who have not been emailed are left out of the sum.

The percentage covers All time, so the date range does not change it. The period you choose only changes the daily chart below. Apple Mail's automatic opens count as opens.

The Segment link next to the first two groups opens a draft segment that finds the contacts in that group on this list. The segment also finds contacts whose status is not active, so its count can differ from the card. To read engagement for a single contact, see Read engagement stars and status.

The Contacts tab

Find contacts with Search by email or name. The status selector shows a count for each of its five groups:

StatusWho is included
AllEveryone on the list.
ActiveContacts who can receive email.
BlockedContacts who unsubscribed, bounced, complained, had an invalid address or were blocked by hand. They do not receive campaigns.
InactiveContacts who are not blocked but cannot receive email. Contacts on a break are included.
On a breakInactive contacts who paused emails for 30, 60 or 90 days. They receive email again when the break ends.

Sort by Newest, Last activity or Email A-Z. Use the columns icon (Columns) to hide columns or change their order. Date added is the day the contact joined your account, not the day they joined this list.

The Imports tab

This tab lists contacts added by file, copy and paste, single contact or list to list, newest first, and the Type column shows which. Contacts added by forms, the API or automations do not appear here. Added by, under the import name, shows who ran it.

Duplicates counts addresses repeated in the file together with existing contacts that were not updated. For file and copy and paste imports, click the import name to open its report. It lists the rows that were not imported and the reason for each. For the steps, see Import contacts from a file.

The Validations tab

This tab lists the cleaning runs for this list with their date, address count and results. Click Validate list to start a new one. Cleaning uses credits and skips addresses that already have a result. For the free bounce test, see Read the email verification report.

Frequently asked questions

Why do the two cards show different totals?

Contact count over time counts everyone on the list. List engagement trend counts only contacts whose status is active, so unsubscribed, bounced, complained and contacts whose status is inactive are left out. Contacts on a break and blocked contacts whose status is still active are included, so the card can show more than the Active count.

I changed the date range. Why did the engagement percentage stay the same?

The large percentage covers all time and ignores the date range. The period you choose only changes the chart below it.

When does a contact on a break receive email again?

Automatically, when the break ends. Only the contact can end a break early.
