Import an email from Canva
Download your Canva design as a ZIP and import it on the Design step. MailGraf uploads the images and sets up the links.
If you design your emails in Canva, you can bring a finished design into an email campaign. MailGraf uploads the images, sets up the unsubscribe and profile links and saves the result as an HTML email.
Import the design
Download the ZIP from Canva
Open your email design in Canva and select Share, then Download. Choose HTML and images and download the ZIP file.Click Import from Canva on the Design step
It is one of the three starting options. If your dashboard shows Import from Canva, it leads to the same step.Drop the ZIP file into the window
You can also click Choose file. MailGraf accepts a .zip file of up to 20 MB.Check the preview
Your email is ready lists what MailGraf did. If something needs attention, Check before you send lists it, such as links with no address or images with no description.Click Use this email
MailGraf saves the email and opens it in the code editor. To use a different ZIP instead, click Choose another file.
What MailGraf prepares
MailGraf uploads the images to the Canva files group in your media library. The folder is named with the day and the campaign name.
MailGraf converts Canva's unsubscribe, profile update and view in browser links to its own links. If the design has no unsubscribe link or no Update my profile link, MailGraf adds the missing one at the bottom of the email.
Edit the email later
A Canva email is saved as an HTML email. It does not open in the drag and drop editor. On the Design step, click Edit code to open the code editor; the Canva chip next to the HTML chip shows where the design came from. Change design on the same step imports a new ZIP over this email.
In the code editor, Format code puts the one-line Canva export on readable lines; the email looks the same. Email checks below the code lists what needs attention. Two fixes are one click: Replace with your company details swaps Canva's sample address for the legal line from your company profile, and Suggest with GrafAI writes a description for each image without one (1 credit per image, with GrafAI on).
Next to the code, switch between Desktop and Mobile. Preview opens the email on its own with a bar at the bottom: desktop, small and large mobile, Both devices side by side, light or dark mode, images on or off, and View as to see it with a test contact's name and address.
One design, one email
Changes you make in Canva do not reach the campaign on their own. Download the ZIP again and use Change design to replace the email.
Frequently asked questions
Can I edit a Canva email in the drag and drop editor?
No. A Canva email is saved as an HTML email. You edit it in the code editor that Edit code opens.
Where do the images go?
To the Canva files group in your Media library, in a folder named with the day and the campaign name. They stay there until you delete them.
Some images did not upload. Why?
