Read a contact profile
Learn what the five tiles, tabs, right-hand column and Contact actions menu tell you about a contact.
Every contact has a profile page. Click their row in All contacts to open it. The profile brings together their contact details, consent, activity and email performance.
The top row
The top section shows the contact's name, email address, copy button and status badge. If the contact is on the block list, Blocked appears in place of their status. The short summary underneath describes recent engagement using recorded activity. Use Contact actions at the top right to manage the contact.
The five tiles
| Tile | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Email health | Healthy, At risk or Blocked, worked out from address checks, bounces, spam complaints and the block list. |
| Engagement | Summarises how often and how recently the contact opens your emails or clicks a link in them as Hot, Warming, Cooling, Cold or New. |
| Buying intent | Calculated from website visits and form activity matched to this contact. Without a match you see a lock and a dash. |
| Consent status | Confirmation recorded or No confirmation record. See Understand consent status and confirmation records. |
| Last engagement | The most recent recorded email open or link click. |
Click a tile to jump to its tab. The (i) icon shows a short explanation.
The tabs
- Overview: the What is the engagement score? card shows a score from 0 to 100. It lists the email opens and link clicks that contribute to the score, including the points for each action. Recent activity carries more weight. Click View calculation to see how the score changed over the last 12 weeks.
- Fields: first name, last name, country and your custom fields. Edit contact opens from here too.
- Activity: shows the contact's activity in time order. Filter the timeline by All, Email, Consent, Lists or Account changes. The Web filter appears when website tracking is installed.
- Web behaviour: shown only when website tracking is installed.
- Insights: shows Emails sent, Delivered, Unique opens, Unique clicks and Bounces. The Delivery funnel explains what happened to sent emails. The Engagement pattern shows the days and times when the contact tends to open emails or click links.
- Notes: your team's notes about this contact.
The right-hand column
- Subscription and consent: shows the contact's status, consent method, confirmation record, Source and Added date. The source may be Added individually, CSV import or Form, for example. Click View consent details to open the full record.
- Lists: shows the lists that contain this contact. Click Add to list to add another one or click the X next to a list name to remove the contact from it.
- Segments: shows the segments whose rules this contact matches. Segment membership is calculated automatically, so contacts cannot be added here manually.
- Tags: shows the tags applied to the contact. Click Add tag to find an existing tag or create a new one. Click the X next to a tag to remove it.
- Data quality: shows whether a name is available for personalisation, whether the email address has been verified and the Last checked date. If MailGraf already has a saved verification result, Check address retrieves it without using a credit. Click Run live check to perform a new verification.
The Contact actions menu
- Edit contact: email, first name, last name, country and custom fields.
- Add to block list or Remove from block list: blocking an address stops all email from your account to that address. You cannot manually remove a block caused by a bounce or spam complaint.
- Unsubscribe: stops campaigns from being sent to the contact. They cannot receive campaigns again until they give consent.
- Download all data: everything held about the contact in one file.
- Forget contact: permanently deletes the contact's personal data. MailGraf keeps a non-readable record so that the address will not receive email if it is added again later.
- Delete: removes the contact and all of their data.
The suggestion card
Some profiles show a suggestion marked Rule based, such as Check this address, Sunset candidate or Hot lead. You can apply the suggestion, snooze it for a week with Later or hide it with Not relevant.
Frequently asked questions
How do I read the engagement score?
The score runs from 0 to 100 and reflects how often and how recently the contact opens your emails or clicks links. Recent activity has more influence. The card on the Overview tab lists the actions that contribute to the score.
Why is Buying intent locked?
Buying intent appears after MailGraf matches a website visit or form action to the contact. Website tracking needs to be installed before MailGraf can collect this activity.
Why can't I add a contact to a segment here?
Segment membership is calculated automatically from the segment's rules. A contact joins when they meet those conditions. You can add contacts to lists or apply tags manually.
