How Much Does Email Marketing Cost? UK Prices by List Size

Email marketing costs a UK small business from $0 on a free plan to $150 a month in software for 10,000 contacts, on the entry paid plans of seven tools (list prices, 25 October 2026).

Three things decide the figure: how many contacts you keep, how often you email them and whether the tool charges for contacts or for emails. A domain, your own time and any agency fees come on top.

Email marketing cost for three list sizes

On the cheapest paid plans, four emails a month cost $9 to $39 a month for 500 contacts, $25 to $60 for 2,500 and $46 to $150 for 10,000. That means 2,000, 10,000 and 40,000 emails, and each cell shows the monthly price, then the cost of 12 months.

Each row shows the lowest paid plan for that sending, priced by the tool's own tier rules. Every price comes from the tool's own pricing page or help centre on 25 October 2026, in US dollars. We assumed every contact is a subscriber the tool counts.

For the 12-month figure, we used the cheapest published way to pay: a yearly plan, or Constant Contact's prepayment. Mailchimp Essentials and Klaviyo list no yearly price at these sizes, so their year is twelve monthly payments.

Entry plans differ in more than price. Brevo Starter puts the Brevo logo on every email unless you pay $12 a month more, and Constant Contact Lite cannot schedule a send.

Four cheaper routes sit outside the table:

  • Kit's free plan charges $0 for all three lists while you stay at or below 10,000 subscribers. It runs no automation, so new sign-ups get no welcome series.
  • Brevo's free plan covers the 500 list, but it sends only 300 a day. Each newsletter finishes the next day, after you resume it by hand.
  • Constant Contact's Starter Email, sold on its UK site at £4 a month, allows 2,500 sends to any number of contacts for one user. That covers the 500 list.
  • Sender's and EmailOctopus's free plans hold 2,500 contacts, with 15,000 and 10,000 emails a month: enough for the 2,500 list. Both include some automation, and Sender needs your own domain from the first send.

The free email marketing plans from Mailchimp, MailerLite and Klaviyo stop at 250 contacts or profiles, below the smallest list here.

What sets the price: contacts, emails and tiers

Your email marketing cost depends first on what the tool counts. Five of the seven tools charge for the people on your list: Mailchimp, Klaviyo, MailerLite, Kit and Constant Contact. Brevo and MailGraf charge for the emails you send each month.

Prices rise in tiers, and each tier is a ceiling, so a list pays for the top of its band. A list of 2,500 sits in Kit's tier for up to 3,000 subscribers.

On Brevo, the same list needs the 15,000-email tier while sending 10,000. Brevo's contact caps limit its 10,000-email tier to 1,500 contacts.

Sending frequency moves only the email-priced bills. Cut that list to one email a month, and MailGraf drops to its 5K plan at $190 a year. Every other price stays put, Brevo's included because of its contact cap.

Send it twice a week instead, about 20,000 emails, and none of the five contact-priced plans changes price. Four allow 25,000 emails at this tier, and Kit sets no email limit. Brevo moves up to $32 and MailGraf to $59.

At the extremes, the pricing model decides more than the tool. A 10,000-contact list mailed once a month fits MailGraf's 10K plan at $29 and Brevo Starter's 20,000 tier at $32, while the contact-priced entry plans charge $89 to $150.

A daily newsletter to 500 people shows the other side. Its 15,000 or so emails cost $59 on MailGraf's 25K plan, against $25 on Brevo Starter or MailerLite Power and $39 on Kit Creator. Kit Free sends either newsletter for nothing, as long as the list needs no automation.

Costs outside the software

The plan price leaves out three email marketing costs: a sending domain, the hours you put in and any outside help.

A domain to send from

Inbox providers expect marketing email to come from a domain the sender controls. Since 1 February 2024, Gmail has required everyone sending to its users to authenticate their domain with SPF or DKIM.

Above 5,000 emails a day to Gmail, a sender needs both, plus a third record, DMARC (Google's email sender guidelines). All three live in the domain's DNS (domain name system) settings and let inboxes check the mail really comes from you.

A free address won't do for long: MailerLite stops campaigns from a Gmail or Outlook address once an account's first 14 days are over.

If you have no domain, add a registrar's yearly fee to the budget, plus the time to publish the records your tool shows you.

MailGraf can start you on a MailGraf domain such as yourbrand.postgraf.net, whose DNS records it manages, so the registrar fee can wait (add a sending domain).

Your time

Your hours are the email marketing cost no plan shows. No tool charges for the time spent writing, designing and testing each email, and we found no UK survey that measures it. To price yours, multiply hours per email by your monthly campaigns and by what an hour of your work earns.

Automation trades money for some of that time. A welcome series written once keeps greeting every new subscriber, though Kit and Mailchimp keep it off their free plans.

An agency or freelancer

Packaged help starts above the dearest plan we priced. Clutch, a directory of agency reviews, lists email marketing packages from $200 a month in its September 2026 email marketing pricing guide.

Larger packages, with more emails and services, cost nearly $10,000 a month in the same guide, so a written quote is the figure to plan with.

Ask for the set-up fee, the monthly fee and the software plan as separate lines. That shows whether the agency's price already includes a plan like those above.

Three ways to lower your email marketing bill

Most savings come from three decisions: who stays on the list, how you pay and when you let the list grow.

Remove contacts who stopped reading, where the tool recounts

Contacts who no longer open still cost money on every contact-priced tool. Removing them helps only on tools that recount, and often only from a later date.

ToolWho still countsWhat removing them does
MailchimpUnsubscribed and non-subscribed contactsArchiving lowers the next billing period; the current one keeps its peak
KlaviyoAny profile you can email, buyers who never subscribed includedNothing until you pick a lower plan or turn on Auto-downgrade profiles, from the next cycle
MailerLiteEvery address active at any point in the billing cycleRemoved addresses count until the count resets on your billing date
BrevoUnsubscribed and bounced contacts, on the 5,000 to 15,000 email tiersDelete them before choosing a lower tier, which starts on your next billing date; from the 20,000 tier up, leaving non-openers out of campaigns cuts the emails you need
KitCold subscribers, until they are unsubscribedOnce they are unsubscribed, the Switch to a lower tier link cuts the price from the next billing date
Constant ContactBounced addresses, and the highest count the account reachedNothing: the tier stays at the account's peak
MailGrafNo one, as contacts are not pricedNothing on the bill; leaving a segment of Cold contacts out of a campaign cuts the emails it uses

Pay for a year only when you will stay

A yearly payment takes 10% off on MailerLite and Brevo, and 15% on a 12-month Constant Contact prepayment. On Kit and MailGraf, a year costs the price of ten months.

Growth does not cancel the discount. A yearly Kit or MailerLite list that passes its tier pays the pro-rated difference at the yearly rate, and on Constant Contact a higher tier draws the prepaid balance down faster.

What a year locks in is the tool. On yearly billing, a cleaned list waits for renewal to drop a tier. Kit refunds only within 30 days of the first payment, and MailerLite and Constant Contact do not refund an unused term.

Check the tier edge before an import or a sign-up drive

One more contact can move several bills at once. For a list of exactly 2,500, contact number 2,501 costs nothing extra on Kit and $30 a month more on Constant Contact.

Tool and plan2,500 contacts2,501 contactsWhen the change starts
Mailchimp Essentials$45Add-on charges, or $75 on the 5,000 tierIn the billing period you pass 2,500
Klaviyo email$60$70The next billing cycle
MailerLite Comfort$33$49At once, pro-rated for the rest of the cycle
Brevo Starter$25$32An automatic upgrade after warnings
Kit Creator$59$59No change until 3,000
Constant Contact Lite$50$80The next month's bill
MailGraf 10K$29$29, with 10,004 emails to sendWhen the 10,000 run out: a send top-up, or 25K at $59

Where MailGraf sits among the seven

At 500 contacts, MailGraf costs more than four of the other six tools. Its smallest plan, 5K a month, is sold only by the year, at $190.

If your list is large and your sends are few, 10K a month on our pricing page covers 10,000 emails for $29.
