Klaviyo Pricing: Profile Bands, Upgrades and UK SMS Rates
Klaviyo pricing depends on your active profiles, the people Klaviyo can email. The free plan covers 250 of them. Klaviyo's UK calculator, checked on 25 October 2026, puts paid email plans at $20 a month for 500 profiles and $70 for 3,000. Plans for 5,000 and 10,000 profiles cost $100 and $150, and text messages cost extra.
Crossing a band costs the whole step. An account with 3,000 active profiles pays $70, and its 3,001st profile moves it to $80 from the next billing cycle.
Klaviyo pricing by number of active profiles
Each paid plan covers a band of active profiles, and its send allowance is ten emails for every profile at the top of the band. The table lists Klaviyo pricing for every band up to 50,000 profiles, in US dollars.
| Active profiles | Price a month | Email sends a month |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 250 (free plan) | $0 | 500 |
| 251 to 500 | $20 | 5,000 |
| 501 to 1,000 | $30 | 10,000 |
| 1,001 to 1,500 | $45 | 15,000 |
| 1,501 to 2,500 | $60 | 25,000 |
| 2,501 to 3,000 | $70 | 30,000 |
| 3,001 to 3,500 | $80 | 35,000 |
| 3,501 to 5,000 | $100 | 50,000 |
| 5,001 to 5,500 | $110 | 55,000 |
| 5,501 to 6,000 | $130 | 60,000 |
| 6,001 to 6,500 | $140 | 65,000 |
| 6,501 to 10,000 | $150 | 100,000 |
| 10,001 to 10,500 | $175 | 105,000 |
| 10,501 to 13,500, in bands of 500 | $200 to $325, +$25 a band | 110,000 to 135,000 |
| 13,501 to 15,000 | $350 | 150,000 |
| 15,001 to 20,000 | $375 | 200,000 |
| 20,001 to 25,000 | $400 | 250,000 |
| 25,001 to 45,000, in seven bands | $425 to $650 | 260,000 to 450,000 |
| 45,001 to 50,000 | $720 | 500,000 |
On 25 October 2026 we read the price list built into Klaviyo's calculator. We then tried four of its bands on the slider, at 500, 3,000, 10,000 and 10,500 profiles, and all four matched the list.
The steepest climb in Klaviyo pricing comes after 10,000: 15,000 profiles cost $350, more than double the $150 charged at 10,000. The next band, up to 20,000, costs only $25 more.
Is Klaviyo free?
Yes, with no time limit, while you stay within 250 active profiles and 500 email sends a month. Each month also brings $5 of mobile messages, such as text messages (SMS), and $5 to spend on Composer, Klaviyo's AI marketing agent.
The limits are firm. Above 250 active profiles, Klaviyo blocks sending until you drop back to 250 or upgrade. It does not move a free account to a paid plan by itself.
At 500 sends, sending stops until the next billing cycle, and flow emails can be skipped.
Free accounts get email support for their first 60 days, then the community and help centre. Their emails carry a Klaviyo logo in the footer. Only a paid email plan removes it; paying for texts alone does not.
Until 30 November 2026, Klaviyo takes $19 off the first month of the $20 plan. The offer is for accounts that have not paid Klaviyo in the previous 12 months, and the second month renews at $20.
What counts as an active profile in Klaviyo
An active profile is any profile with an email address that Klaviyo can send to, whatever its consent status. That includes shoppers who typed an email at checkout but never ticked a marketing box.
Shop integrations such as Shopify and WooCommerce can add those buyers to Klaviyo for you.
| Profile | Counts towards the plan? |
|---|---|
| Subscribed to email marketing | Yes |
| Buyer or checkout starter who never subscribed but can be emailed | Yes |
| Unsubscribed from texts but still emailable | Yes |
| Unsubscribed from email | No |
| Suppressed, by you or after a hard bounce | No |
| Deleted | No |
| Phone number only, no email address | No |
These rules come from Klaviyo's billing help pages, checked the same day as the calculator. After a large clean-up, the count in billing can take up to 72 hours to update.
Checkout profiles and UK marketing rules
If your checkout gave buyers no way to refuse marketing, you should not send them campaigns. Klaviyo still bills them as active profiles.
Marketing a buyer without consent relies on the soft opt-in of PECR (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations). One of its conditions, in the regulator's PECR guidance, is a chance to refuse when you collect the address. This summary is not legal advice.
You can add the opt-out to checkout from now on, or suppress the profiles you should not market to. Suppression lasts: a suppressed buyer who checks out again after you add the opt-out stays suppressed, so they will not get your abandoned basket emails either.
What happens when you outgrow your Klaviyo plan
Your Klaviyo pricing goes up for two reasons: more active profiles at renewal, or the send limit. On a new plan, reaching the send limit upgrades you at once by default. Profiles are checked at the end of each billing cycle. If you have more than your plan covers, the next cycle starts on a plan that fits, and sending carries on meanwhile.
The send limit follows a setting in Billing > Preferences, chosen separately for email and texts:
| Setting | When you reach the send limit | Your plan afterwards |
|---|---|---|
| Automatically upgrade (default) | You move up a tier at once and pay the difference for the current cycle | Stays on the higher tier until you downgrade |
| Flexible overages | You buy the extra sends up to the next tier at your current price per send, for this cycle only | Back to your usual plan next cycle |
| None | Sending stops until you upgrade or the cycle renews | Unchanged |
A smaller list does not lower the bill by itself. You pick a cheaper plan by hand, or turn on Auto-downgrade profiles.
Auto-downgrade works with Flexible overages or None, but not with Automatically upgrade. Either way, the lower plan starts next cycle, with no refund for the rest of the current one.
Two smaller rules affect the numbers. Bounced emails use up your send allowance, while skipped emails and double opt-in confirmations do not.
If you unsuppress a profile you suppressed by hand, you cannot suppress it again until 90 days after the first suppression.
Klaviyo pricing for SMS and WhatsApp to UK numbers
Texts and WhatsApp messages sit on a separate Mobile Messaging plan. You prepay a monthly amount, and each message draws on it at a rate set by channel and country. Unused money does not carry over, and Klaviyo says provider fees are included in each rate.
Rates vary by country, and UK texts cost far more than US ones. These were the calculator's monthly costs for UK texts that day:
| Texts a month to UK numbers | Monthly cost |
|---|---|
| 500 | $35 |
| 1,000 | $70 |
| 3,000 | $185 |
| 5,000 | $295 |
| 10,000 | $575 |
The same 1,000 texts to a US toll-free number cost $15. WhatsApp marketing messages to the UK cost $105 per 1,000.
A long text splits into segments of 153 characters, or 67 with an emoji, and each segment counts. Failed deliveries are charged; skipped and inbound messages are not.
Klaviyo only sends marketing texts to people who opted in to texts, so the number usually starts small. Even so, one text a month to 1,000 customers costs $70, the same as the email plan for 3,000 profiles.
Klaviyo pricing for add-ons
Email comes with every plan, and other products are billed by their own measure. The starting prices below come from Klaviyo's pricing page and billing help.
| Add-on | Billed by | Starting price a month |
|---|---|---|
| Composer (AI agent) | Usage credits | $20 |
| Reviews (Shopify and WooCommerce only) | Orders | $25 for 250 orders |
| Social marketing | Active profiles | $50 up to 10,000 |
| Customer Hub | Active profiles | $20 up to 10,000, after a 30-day free trial |
| Helpdesk | Shopper tickets | $10 for 50 tickets |
| Customer Agent | Resolved conversations | $50 for 75 conversations |
| Marketing Analytics | Active profiles | $100 up to 13,500 |
| Advanced Klaviyo Data Platform | All profiles, suppressed ones included | $500 for 100,000 |
Profile-based add-ons rise with your list. Marketing Analytics and Customer Hub move up or down automatically when your plan renews.
Klaviyo pricing over a year for a 3,000-profile shop
An online outdoor clothing shop in Kendal, an example business, pays Klaviyo $1,070 over a year of renewals. It reaches its first renewal with 3,000 active profiles: 2,400 subscribers and 600 buyers who gave an address at checkout without subscribing.
Six campaigns to the subscribers use 14,400 sends. Its welcome, basket and post-purchase automated flows add about 1,600, so it uses 16,000 of the 30,000 sends in its plan.
Our sum assumes 100 new subscribers a month and no new buyers who skip the marketing box. Klaviyo checks the count at each renewal, so the price steps up one cycle after the shop crosses a band.
| Months | Active profiles at renewal | Klaviyo band | Monthly price | Cost for those months |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 3,000 | 2,501 to 3,000 | $70 | $70 |
| 2 to 6 | 3,100 to 3,500 | 3,001 to 3,500 | $80 | $400 |
| 7 to 12 | 3,600 to 4,100 | 3,501 to 5,000 | $100 | $600 |
Sends never force an upgrade: in month 12, about 23,000 sends sit inside a 50,000 allowance.
If its checkout offered no opt-out, the shop could suppress those 600 buyers and pick the $60 band by hand before renewal. With the same growth, its year would then cost $870 instead of $1,070.
Klaviyo pricing in the UK: currency and billing
The UK pricing page quotes prices in US dollars. Self-serve plans are billed monthly in advance by card, starting on the day you first pay.
The page lists no yearly price. Some accounts are billed on a contract instead.
Your billing date stays the same through every upgrade and downgrade; only cancelling and starting again resets it.
The same shop on MailGraf's monthly plan
MailGraf sets its price by monthly sends and puts no limit on contacts. Neither the 600 checkout buyers nor a list growing past 4,000 changes what the Kendal shop pays.
Its sends rise from about 16,000 a month to 23,000 and stay inside the 25K a month plan all year. That costs $708 over 12 months paid monthly, or $590 paid yearly.
There is no automatic move up either. When a month's sends run out, you can buy extra sends or a larger plan after seeing the price, or wait for the allowance to renew.
Before your next Klaviyo renewal, compare the same monthly send volume on MailGraf's pricing page.
