Constant Contact Pricing: Tiers, Send Limits and UK Prices
On Constant Contact's dollar price list, Lite costs $12 a month, Standard $35 and Premium $80, each for up to 500 active contacts. On 25 October 2026, the price calculator showed UK visitors a separate list in pounds: £9, £29 and £66 for the same 500 contacts.
From there, Constant Contact pricing climbs one contact tier at a time up to 50,000 contacts. The tier follows the highest number of active contacts the account has held, not today's count. A single large import can raise the bill for months, even if you delete those contacts again.
Constant Contact plans: Lite, Standard and Premium
Constant Contact sells three main plans on one contact ladder. They differ in users, send allowance, automation and segments, and Constant Contact recommends Standard to most small businesses.
| Lite | Standard | Premium | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price for 0-500 contacts | $12 a month | $35 a month | $80 a month |
| Users | 1 | 3 | Unlimited |
| Monthly email sends | 10 times your tier | 12 times your tier | 24 times your tier |
| Automation templates | 1 | 3, plus resend to non-openers | Unlimited, plus custom automations |
| Custom segments | 1 | 10 | Unlimited |
| Scheduled sends and subject line A/B tests | No | Yes | Yes |
Lite cannot schedule an email in advance, so every campaign goes out when you press send. For a team that plans a newsletter a week ahead, that alone points to Standard.
Starter Email, the plan outside the calculator
The UK site also sells Starter Email at £4 a month, priced by sends rather than contacts. It allows 2,500 sends a month and any number of contacts, for one user, with self-serve tutorials as support.
When those sends run out, you wait for the monthly reset or move up to Lite, Standard or Premium. The plan does not appear in the pricing page's calculator.
Constant Contact pricing by contact tier
Every plan climbs the same 13 tiers, ending at 45,001-50,000. Above that, the calculator shows no price and asks you to contact customer service.
| Active contacts | Lite | Standard | Premium |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0-500 | $12 | $35 | $80 |
| 501-1,000 | $30 | $55 | $110 |
| 1,001-2,500 | $50 | $75 | $150 |
| 2,501-5,000 | $80 | $110 | $200 |
| 5,001-10,000 | $120 | $160 | $275 |
| 10,001-15,000 | $180 | $210 | $325 |
| 15,001-20,000 | $230 | $260 | $375 |
| 20,001-25,000 | $280 | $310 | $425 |
| 25,001-30,000 | $310 | $340 | $455 |
| 30,001-35,000 | $340 | $370 | $485 |
| 35,001-40,000 | $370 | $400 | $515 |
| 40,001-45,000 | $400 | $430 | $545 |
| 45,001-50,000 | $430 | $460 | $575 |
Constant Contact pricing rises in uneven steps. Lite more than doubles between 500 and 1,000 contacts, and contact 5,001 adds $40 a month on Lite and $50 on Standard.
Which contacts Constant Contact bills you for
You pay for active email contacts, the people you have permission to email. Unsubscribed contacts, contacts awaiting confirmation and contacts with only a phone number are inactive and do not count.
One kind of active contact is easy to miss. Bounced addresses, such as mailboxes that no longer exist, count as active until you remove them from the account.
In an example from Constant Contact's knowledge base, a list grows from 400 to 525 and falls back to 410. The bill then uses the 501-1,000 tier. The highest count sets the price, and a lower count at the end of the month does not reduce it.
Deleting contacts does not lower the tier. If a cleanup is meant to cut your bill, confirm the new tier with Constant Contact's billing team before you plan around it.
Send allowance and overage fees
Each plan's allowance is a multiple of the top of your tier, not of your exact list. A Standard account with 1,500 contacts sits in the 1,001-2,500 tier, so it can send 30,000 emails a month.
Over the allowance, emails still go out and each extra send costs $0.002, which is $2 for every 1,000 extra sends. On a prepaid account the fee comes out of the balance; otherwise you get a separate invoice.
Every email to every contact counts as a send, bounces included. Automated emails, such as a welcome series or an abandoned cart reminder, are left out of the allowance. Regular campaigns count whether you send them straight away or schedule them, and so do automatic resends to non-openers. A resend goes out on a later day, which can put it in the following billing cycle.
Constant Contact pricing in the UK: pounds or dollars
Constant Contact's UK pricing page shows pounds by default. The pound prices form their own list, not a conversion of the dollar ones. The table shows the figures the calculator loads for the first five tiers.
| Active contacts | Lite | Standard | Premium |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0-500 | £9 | £29 | £66 |
| 501-1,000 | £24 | £45 | £91 |
| 1,001-2,500 | £41 | £62 | £124 |
| 2,501-5,000 | £66 | £91 | £166 |
| 5,001-10,000 | £99 | £132 | £228 |
Constant Contact picks your account currency from your location when you open the trial. You can change it in the account settings during the trial, but not once you have made a payment.
The same UK page quotes two sets of pound prices. With the page fully loaded on 25 October 2026, the price cards read £9, £29 and £66. The FAQ below still said Lite from £8, Standard from £21 and Premium from £89 a month.
None of those FAQ figures appears in the 140-tier pound list the calculator loads, and the FAQ's prepaid prices are worked out from them. For Constant Contact pricing in pounds, budget with the calculator figure for your tier and check the amount on the payment screen before you pay.
The UK page also marks text message (SMS) marketing as available to American customers only. It quotes the overage rate and the Inbox Preview add-on in dollars.
Prepaying, nonprofit discounts and refunds
Prepaying is the main discount in Constant Contact pricing: six months ahead takes 10% off, and a year ahead takes 15%. Nonprofits get 20% and 30% instead, but only on a prepaid plan: monthly billing carries no nonprofit discount.
Constant Contact asks a nonprofit to confirm its status before buying the prepaid plan, so the discount is set up from the start. An organisation outside the United States sends the equivalent document issued in its own country.
A prepayment works as a balance, and each month's bill comes out of it. A higher contact tier takes more each month, so the money lasts fewer months.
Constant Contact sends no notice when the tier changes. You get an email when the balance runs low, and the prepayment then renews from your payment method on file.
Is Constant Contact free?
No, there is no free plan. The 30-day free trial lets you upload as many contacts as you like but stops at 100 email sends in total.
When the trial ends, your drafts, contacts and reports stay where they are, but nothing goes out until you pay. Once you pay, the monthly charge arrives whether or not you send a campaign.
Add-ons that change the monthly price
The calculator leaves out a few costs:
- Inbox Preview costs $10 a month for any plan.
- Text messages start at $10 monthly for American customers, and Premium includes 500 a month.
- Stock images bought from the gallery cost extra and draw down a prepaid balance.
- Teams, for organisations running five or more accounts, needs a quote.
Five ways a museum friends' society can pay for Standard
A friends' society with 2,100 contacts on Standard pays between $630 and $900 a year, depending on how it pays. The society is fictional: the registered charity that supports a small museum in Ludlow. Each month it sends a newsletter and one event announcement, then resends the announcement to members who did not open it.
That comes to about 5,500 sends a month, under a fifth of Standard's 30,000 allowance at this tier, so overage never applies. Its welcome emails run as an automation and sit outside the allowance.
| How the society pays | Discount | Cost for 12 months |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly | None | $900 |
| Two 6-month prepayments | 10% | $810 |
| One 12-month prepayment | 15% | $765 |
| Two 6-month prepayments as a nonprofit | 20% | $720 |
| One 12-month prepayment as a nonprofit | 30% | $630 |
Billed in pounds, Standard for 1,001-2,500 contacts is £62 a month. That makes £744 for the year, or £520.80 with the 12-month nonprofit prepayment.
When an import pushes the society past 2,500
In month seven, the museum's ticket desk adds 500 visitors who ticked its marketing opt-in. At 2,600 active contacts the society moves into the 2,501-5,000 tier, where Standard costs $110 a month.
Constant Contact shows a higher tier on the next month's bill. A society paying monthly therefore spends $1,075 that year: $525 for the first seven months and $550 for the last five. Removing the 500 visitors later would not undo it.
On the $630 nonprofit prepayment, the higher tier empties the balance before month twelve. The prepayment then renews with the same plan and the new tier: $924 for the next 12 months at the 30% nonprofit rate.
What the 500 new visitors change on MailGraf
On MailGraf the 500 visitors change nothing on the bill. The price follows the emails sent each month, and contacts play no part in it.
MailGraf does count automated emails, which Constant Contact leaves out. With the welcome series added, the society sends a little over 5,500 emails a month before the import and about 6,800 after. Both fit the 10K a month plan: $29 a month, or $290 paid yearly, the price of ten months.
Unlike a Constant Contact tier, the plan can come down. A move to a smaller monthly volume starts from your next billing period, as the plan and credits help explains.
Before your charity sends its paperwork for a 12-month Constant Contact prepayment, check MailGraf's yearly price for your volume on our pricing page.
